Comfort or Safety?
Most comfortable seating
We all remember the days of yore, when traveling by plane was a treat. An adventure we were excited about making. Today, not so much.
It’s bad enough, the extra stress of getting through TSA security, but then there’s the issue of sitting for hours in a tiny cramped airplane seat.
There MUST be a secret to making these miserable flights a bit more comfortable, right?
Aviation blog JetBlue talked to a pilot called Christian about the best place to seat in an aircraft.
“There’s less noise when you’re sitting forward on the wing.
In most planes, the engines are located under the wings. Sitting in the front of the wing is like being behind a speaker.
All of the sounds of the engine and the disturbed air are projected away from you…find a seat in the front of the cabin.”
And what about the safest place to sit on a plane?
Well, I’m sorry to tell you, the safest place is the very back of the aircraft.
The very rear of the plane is the most sturdy. It’s the structure of those ‘boxes’ in the back of the plane, the galley, the toilets. They give the rear of the plane more structure.
So, now your choice of airline seat, if you have a choice at all, is between comfort or safety?
